EFCC Operative shot dead in Anambra days before Wedding

An Assistant Superintendent of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Halisu Sahabi, has been shot dead in Anambra just days before his wedding.

Sahabi, attached to the EFCC Zonal Command, was tragically killed on Saturday during a raid on suspected internet fraudsters in Awka, Anambra state capital.

According to report, he had led his team to the house of a cybercrime suspect identified as Chukwuka Nnamdi.

Nnamdi, who was claimed to be a medical doctor from Ifite area Awka, reportedly fired a licensed pump action gun, killing Sahabi and injuring another officer.

He would later be arrested by the Police and EFCC operatives after initially hiding in his neighbour’s ceiling.

When interrogated, Nnamdi claimed he had mistook the EFCC Operatives for armed robbers.

Sahabi has, however, been buried in Sokoto according to Islamic rite.

Meanwhile, sources claimed that the deceased EFCC operative died due to delay in medical attention after being rushed to an undisclosed hospital.
