Governor Adeleke Donates Multi-Million Medical Equipments to State Specialist Hospital, Asubiaro

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State on Friday donated a state-of-the-art 4D ultrasound machine to the State Specialist Hospital, Asubiaro, Osogbo, in a move to improve healthcare delivery in the state.

During the donation ceremony at the hospital premises, the Governor who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Hon. Teslim Igbalaye said the equipment was provided by the Osun Health Insurance Scheme (OHIS) as part of the administration’s commitment to transforming the health sector.

“This donation is not just a provision, it is a testament to our collective resolve to reform healthcare in Osun. From revitalising facilities to strengthening our health insurance system, we are determined to ensure that quality healthcare is accessible to all, regardless of socio-economic status”, Igbalaye noted.

He also commended the management of OHIS for their innovative approach, describing its dedication to service as “truly Inspiring”.

In his address, Executive Secretary of OHIS, Dr. Rasaq Akindele, highlighted recent initiatives under the state’s health agenda, which include the enrollment of all inmates into OHIS, free eye surgeries for students and retirees.

He however, urged the hospital management to put the new machine to judicious use, stressing that the ultimate goal was to improve the overall health status of Osun residents.

“I want to imploy the management of this hospital to put it to judicious use. All we are concerned about is that the health status of osun will be by this also improve,” he advised.

The Chief Consultant of the hospital, Dr. Folasade Dare, in her goodwill message commended O’his, stating that the equipment would expand the scope of services offered by the hospital.

“This machine is a blessing to us. It will generate revenue, solve problems that used to take patients outside the state, and strengthen our capacity to deliver world class healthcare. We are truly grateful to the governor, Dare said.

In an interview with newsmen, a Consultant of Radiologist at the hospital, Dr. Akeem Bello, explained the significance of the machine, noting that it could be used for pregnancy scans, thyroid examinations, brain scan, infertility examinations, blood flow among others.

“It will serve multiple purposes and reduce the need for patients to travel long distances for advanced medical scans. Now, these services can be accessed right here in Osogbo,” Bello said
