The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed Thursday, 21st August 2025, for the supplementary by-elections at Kaura Namoda South in Zamfara state.
Speaking on Tuesday during a stakeholders meeting on supplementary elections held at INEC headquarters in Gusau, Zamfara state, the resident electoral commissioner in charge of Zamfara, Dr Mahamud Isah, disclosed that INEC is set for the re-run election.
“Under the law we are guided to conduct the supplementary elections without fear or favour, we assured of credible and acceptable election”, he assured.
He explained that the supplementary election would be held on Thursday, 21st of August 2025 in five polling units of Kyambarawa and Saikajiki wards of Kaura Namoda South in the state.
At the stakeholders meeting, the People Democratic Party (PDP) lamented that some polling units were skipped out of the supplementary election for Kaura Namoda South in the state.
According to the PDP Secretary, their party was not ready and not comfortable with the Thursday supplementary election until the remaining polling units were added for the election.
“There were eleven polling units that supplementary elections were supposed to hold not five, we wrote and yet no reply until now, PDP can only participate when the remaining polling units were added for the supplementary election,” he said.
