The Federal Polytechnic, Ede has formally matriculated 12,797 students for the 2025/2026 academic session, with the Rector commending President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) initiative.
Speaking at the institution’s 32nd Matriculation Ceremony, the Rector described the event as a significant milestone for the newly admitted students and their families.
“At this Matriculation Ceremony for the 2025/2026 Academic Session, the Polytechnic formally and legally admits into this unique academic community a total number of 12,797 fresh students across programmes in Sciences, Technology, Engineering and Business related disciplines,” he said.
He urged the students to remain focused and disciplined throughout their academic journey, warning against distractions and misconduct.
“As you embark on this transformative journey, you must remain focused, dedicated and disciplined… Avoid the temptation to take shortcuts or to engage in any form of academic dishonesty,” the Rector cautioned.
The Rector also emphasized the importance of good conduct, advising students to shun social vices and adhere strictly to institutional rules and regulations.
Highlighting federal government efforts to improve access to education, he commended President Tinubu’s student loan policy.
“This program has indeed gone a long way in ensuring that no eligible Nigerian is denied the opportunity to pursue higher education due to lack of fund,” he noted.
According to him, 2,059 students of the Polytechnic have benefitted from the NELFUND scheme within the past year, and eligible students were encouraged to access the initiative through the appropriate institutional channels.
The ceremony concluded with the formal induction of the students into the academic community, marking the beginning of their studies at the Polytechnic.
