Scott Adams, the 67-year-old creator of the Dilbert comic strip, announced on Monday that he has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer, the same type reportedly diagnosed in former President Joe Biden.
Tribune Online reports that the personal office of former United States President, in a statement on Sunday, announced that Biden has been diagnosed with prostate cancer.
The statement revealed that Mr. Biden, who left the White House in January, was found to have an “aggressive form of cancer”.
“Last week, President Joe Biden was seen for a new finding of a prostate nodule after experiencing increasing urinary symptoms,” the statement said.
Reacting to the announcement during an episode of his YouTube show, Real Coffee with Scott Adams, Adams revealed, “I have the same cancer that Joe Biden has.”
“So, I also have prostate cancer that has also spread to my bones.”
He expressed his sympathy for Biden and his family, offering his “respect and compassion and sympathy” following Biden’s announcement of his diagnosis.
Adams described his condition as “basically intolerable,” noting that he is in constant pain and uses a walker to get around. He anticipates that he may not survive beyond the summer.
Reflecting on his diagnosis, Adams mentioned that it has allowed him time to process his situation, say his goodbyes, and get his affairs in order.
Dilbert, which debuted in 1989, became a staple in many newspapers, satirising office culture. However, in 2023, the strip was dropped by numerous publications following Adams’s controversial remarks. Among other statements, he referred to Black people as a “hate group” and declared he would no longer “help Black Americans.”
Despite later claiming he was being hyperbolic, Adams continued to defend his stance. Major media outlets, including the San Francisco Chronicle, condemned his comments as racist and discriminatory, leading to the discontinuation of Dilbert in their publications.
