The United States Coast Guard on Thursday said that a “debris field” has been discovered in the Titanic wreck search area.
According to BBC, the US Coast Guard said, “Experts within the unified command are evaluating the information.”
Fears of the oxygen supply on the vessel running out have led rescuers to conduct a frantic international search for the missing tourist submersible.
The search for the submersible, which went missing Sunday after embarking on a mission to survey the wreckage of the Titanic, has been focused on an area where Canadian aircraft detected “underwater noises.”
U.S. Coast Guard officials estimated that the five passengers could run out of air just before 7:10 a.m. ET, but the location of the missing vessel and the exact situation onboard remained a mystery even as the search intensified, with new ships joining the race against time.
