The Executive Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke on Thursday, flagged off the distribution of instructional materials for public secondary school students in the state.
The governor while speaking during the flag off ceremony held in Osogbo, disclosed that his administration saw the urgent need to give out the materials after a Need Assessment Survey of schools was conducted.
Adeleke admonished the students to maximise the opportunities offered by his administration to prepare themselves for a better learning outcome and glorious future.
He further appealed to parents and other stakeholders to repose confidence in the public education system of the State, adding that they should accept change as it is inevitable and desirable.
“You will recall that in April, 2023, less than six months into this administration, I flagged off the distribution of instructional materials to all our public secondary schools. The same gesture was extended to basic education pupils via SUBEB. Today again we shall give to our secondary school students the much needed exercise books having conducted a Need Assessment survey of schools that revealed the urgent need to do so. It is our sincere hope that students will maximize this opportunity to have better learning outcome.
“Our appeal as a government is for all of us to accept change. It is inevitable and desirable. By accepting change we shall not be complacent. All parents and other stakeholders must repose confidence in the public education system in the State. Gone are the days of endless strike actions by teachers. Students should endeavour to maximise the opportunities offered by this administration to prepare themselves for a glorious future.
“On our part as a government, we shall remain focussed, committed and resolute about our avowed resolve to getting education right. I hereby flag off the distribution of Exercise Books to students of secondary schools in Osun State to the glory of God and benefit of our teeming students”, Governor Adeleke concluded.
Speaking earlier, the State’s Commissioner for Education, Eluwole Adedipo

He said; “It is my delight to welcome you all to this epock making event, as today marks another historic landmark in the history of education in Osun State. Today’s event is a landmark because it marks another strategy towards repositioning of Education in Osun State.
“I want to appreciate Mr. Governor on behalf of Parents and all stakeholders in education sector for provision of instructional materials to our Schools. Without cutlass the farmer has no business in the farm and without instructional materials pupils and students are helpless in the School.”
