Our common enemy is insecurity, not neighbours – Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour
The Labour Party governorship candidate in Lagos State, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, has disclosed there was no election in the state.
He described the March 18 governorship election in the state to be marred with violence.
He said this while addressing the media on Wednesday.
He said, “There was no election in Lagos state. It was violent at multiple levels physically and diabolic.
“My dear Lagosians, our enemies are not our neighbours or our visitors or fellow Lagosians. Our common enemy is violence, insecurity, poverty, stagnation, corruption and underdevelopment.”
The Independent National Electoral Commission had announced Babajide Sanwo-Olu of the All Progressives Congress as the winner of last Saturday’s election in the state.
The declaration was made in the early hours of Monday, March 20, by the Returning Officer of the Governorship and House of Assembly elections in Lagos State, Professor Adenike Oladeji.
Sanwo-Olu polled 762,134 votes to defeat Rhodes-Vivour who polled 312,329while Olajide Adeniran of the Peoples Democratic Party polled 62,449 votes.
Rhodes-Vivour had earlier disclosed that his ambition to occupy the state governorship seat was not backed by any godfather as claimed by the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor.
Jandor was quoted to have said on Tuesday that Rhodes-Vivour was being endorsed by godfathers such as the PDP chieftain, Chief Bode George.
“I fought against godfatherism in the APC, Lagos. My refusal in recognising (Chief) Bode George as a godfather in the PDP is a major reason for his endorsement of Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour of LP against my candidature in the PDP,” Jandor said.
In his reaction, Rhodes-Vivour disclosed there was no godfather in the LP nor did he have one, adding that he only had mentors and leaders.
Rhodes-Vivour said, “In the Labour Party, there’s no godfather. I have no godfather.
“I had no godfather in PDP. I only had mentors and leaders.
