…threatens mass protest if not withdrawn

“Our attention has been drawn to reports circulating in the media regarding the directive of the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, ordering tactical police teams to remain stationed at local government secretariats in Osun State for the
next two months.
“As a recognized and responsible youth body in the state, we strongly condemn this decision, as it appears to be an unnecessary show of force in a state where peace and stability have long been restored. The continued presence of these tactical teams has become a source of harassment for law-abiding citizens, with reports of extortion, intimidation, and reckless disruptions of free movement. The disturbing trend of setting up illegal roadblocks, obstructing major roads with tires, and extorting motorists under the guise of security operations is unacceptable.
“Osun State is known for its peaceful atmosphere, and we refuse to allow any form of politically motivated policing to disrupt the harmony we cherish. The Inspector General of Police must immediately withdraw these tactical teams to prevent further abuse of power and infringement on the rights of our people.
“Should this unwarranted occupation persist, we will not hesitate to mobilize our fellow youth organizations and engage in a peaceful demonstration to demand an end to this harassment. We remain committed to defending the dignity and rights of Osun residents against any form of oppression.
“We urge Governor Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke, as the Chief Security Officer of the state, to engage the relevant authorities and ensure that Osun remains a place of peace, not a theater for intimidation.
We stand united. We stand for justice.
