The Executive Governor of Osun state, Senator Ademola Adeleke has applauded the roles of women in nation building, especially the wives of security personnel in the country who have strengthened the officers in the frontline.
The Governor made the commendation while receiving members of the Police Officers Wives Association (POVA) in his office on Thursday, led by the wife of Inspector General of Police, Mrs Elizabeth Egbetokun.
In his address, Governor Adeleke appreciated the efforts of the wives of security personnel across the country, while describing them as the real heroes who sacrifice alot and also strengthened officers in the Frontline.
According to him, “The security agencies are doing alot to keep the state safe, the Police, the Secret Police, the Armed Forces and others, are working commendably to sustain Osun record as a reckon of peace.
“When our security are doing well, the real heroes are our mothers, you, our wives, you sacrifice alot, you strengthened our officers in the frontline.
Adeleke continued by recounting how Osun state has been privileged to host huge number of delegation from far and near since his emergence as the state Governor.
“Osun state has been privileged to host quite a number of such delegation from far and near, just last month we roll out the carpet for the First Lady lady of the Nation, my sister Senator Oluremi Tinubu. It was a memorable event, she was at home and had fun together with her team.
“We are here today, you know Osun very well, you’ve been here, so you’re welcome home, when I was told of your visit I noted that you’re just coming back to base.
“You may however not recognize Osun again,our state is now a huge construction site,under our friendly Goverment we are touching lives across the sector, women are dare to our governor’s agenda within the context of a secured state.
“I’m happy to announce that Osun is one of the most peaceful state in the country, as a state of living spring our people are law abiding and cherish the important role of our law enforcement agencies. He noted
Speaking earlier on the purpose of their visitation, the leader of POVA Mrs Elizabeth Egbetokun emphasized that, it is a deliberate visit to advocate for strategic support and the economy value of women in agriculture.
“This is a deliberate visit and a well planned one.
“Your Excellency, POWA is a non- governmental, non racial, non ethical, non-political but philanthropy, innovative democratic, educative, informative and social association.
“It is however, important to know that the purpose of our visit to Osun state is to advocate for strategic support hence the economy value of women in agriculture.
“In alignment with the vision of our esteem President of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu GFR on food and nutrition security and the commendable effort of our First Lady and our mother of our dear nation, Senator Oluremi Tinubu CON on women in agriculture. Women are the backbone of agriculture, yet they often feel different challenges.
“By employing women in this sector too, we can unlock some tremendous potential for economy growth and food security for the families of women and officers of the Nigerian Police Force in Osun state and in Nigeria as a whole.
“Your Excellency your support in championing the women in agriculture and advancing our collective vision for a prosperous and food secured nation. Together let us work more to future where women are empowered agriculture thrive and our state flourishes”, She said.
