The Coalition For Good Governance(C4GG), a non-partisan and a non-governmental group of concerned individuals and organizations, has commended the effort of Osun State government, led by His Excellency, Ademola Nurudeen Adeleke, and the leadership of the State Pensioners.
This was confirmed in a statement signed by the C4GG Convener, Adetayo Adegbemle, which was made available to Sahel Standard on Tuesday.
According to the statement, It should be recalled that the Government of Osun State under Governor Ademola Adeleke has paid over N17b( Seventeen Billion Naira) pension arrears and gratuities since coming on board in November, 2022. Breakdown of the N17bn shows N8.1bn has been paid for State Civils Servants and the remaining N8.57bn was paid pension arrears and gratuities for local government workers.
“In a further commendable move, The Governor Ademola Adeleke led administration further went ahead to meet with the Union of Pensioners on Monday 25th of September, in which the Governor has reiterated his promise to liquidate the outstanding Pension debts.
“Our group has also noticed comments from some quarters trying to polticise this highly laudable move by the State Government.
“We hereby call on such individuals or group of persons to kindly desist, and we further call on the leadership of the Union of Pensioners to not allow themselves dragged into the political shennanigans.
“A worker is worth his wages, so also his pensions, and for a Government to have priotize the welfare of its pensioners should be commended by all. He concluded.
