- Vows to deepen humanitarian interventions for A’Ibom people
- Set to take delivery of second Brand New Airbus 230 for Ibom Air
Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno has assured of his administration’s commitment to the actualization of the Ibom Deep Seaport project.
He gave the assurance, Tuesday in Uyo, during an enlarged stakeholders meeting of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, held at the Banquet Hall of Government House , Uyo.
The Governor explained that the project is on course, and that the infrastructure leading to the seaport is being fixed, and as soon that is completed, the government would enter into the next phase of the project in collaboration with investors for a take off of the construction.
Pastor Eno who used the opportunity to present some of his achievement’s in past one year, also announced that some of the projects that are to come next.
Moved by the story of a family that gave land to a widow for the construction of a Compassionate Home, he announced the construction of a 3 bedroom apartment fully furnished for that family, as a reward his good heart.
“That’s an example of being a brother’s keeper. It shows the spirit of Love. A true Akwa Ibom spirit”he said adding that “The Moral lesson behind the act is that what you wish for others can come your way”.
He said his government hopes to increase its IGR, in the year, 2024, and its working towards building the necessary infrastructure that would support increase in IGR
Said he, “We must begin to think beyond FAAC and building”.
The State Chief Executive hinted of plans to convert State assets in Lagos and Abuja into commercially viable ventures.“We intend to Invest in our assets in Lagos and Abuja to attract commercial value .We will enter the Property Market starting with an 18 floor apartment and, then sell. We will pull down the old Akwa Ibom House and put up a 100 bed -3 star hotel for income with discount rate for Akwa Ibom people”.
He announced that a team would be assembled to implement and ensure its success.
The Governor said his administration is currently undertaking an ecological remediation project and the construction of Arise Park project with features including, and artificial lake, floating bars, water falls, mini-shopping centre, sports arena, swimming pool, children amusement ground, medical centre and a Police post amongst others. This according to the Governor is aimed at creating what he described as ‘super tourism site’ in a bid to boost tourism in the State.
Another cheering news at the meeting was when he disclosed that a Second Airbus A320 for Ibom Air is ready and that the State would soon take delivery of the aircraft.
In the area of infrastructure, Eno said his government would not relent in its commitment to provide critical roads infrastructure connecting the 31 Local Government Areas. He said contract for the Odio road project in Onna and the Oron contract have been terminated and re- awarded for construction, same with Urua Naira road in Ikono.
