The Kaduna State Police Command has announced significant breakthroughs in its intensified crackdown on criminal networks across the state, resulting in the arrest of at least 34 suspects linked to armed robbery, kidnapping, rape, cybercrimes and medical impersonation.
Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Muhammad, disclosed this on Tuesday during a press briefing at the Command Headquarters in Kaduna. He said the arrests were made during coordinated operations conducted between November 6 and 22, 2025, as part of the renewed strategy to curb criminal activities.
13-Member Armed Robbery Gang Terrorising Hotels, Estates Arrested
According to the Commissioner, operatives of the Operation Fushin Kada Tracking and Response Team, led by CSP Usman Namaibindiga, stormed Barnawa and other parts of Kaduna metropolis around 2:00am on November 22, following a series of complaints from residents and hotel operators.
Thirteen members of a notorious armed robbery and handset-snatching syndicate were arrested. The suspects confessed to attacks at Freedom Hotel, No. 10 Hotel Barnawa, Gashash Estate, and several homes.
They also admitted to killing a police personnel in 2024.
Recovered items include a pump-action rifle with seven cartridges, 13 cutlasses and sticks, a blue Volkswagen operational vehicle, four laptops, 13 mobile phones, and four plasma TVs.
The CP said investigation revealed that some hotel-based drug dealers had been tipping off the gang about valuable targets.
Seven Suspected Kidnappers Nabbed in Sanga LGA
On November 17, officers acting on credible intelligence raided Nunbu Bashayi in Sanga Local Government Area, arresting seven suspects believed to be behind recent kidnapping incidents in the community.
The suspects reportedly confessed to abducting a resident and demanding ransom before their arrest. The police say efforts are ongoing to track down fleeing accomplices and recover weapons.
Kidnap-Robbery-Rape Gang Dismantled
In another major breakthrough, police operatives cracked a violent gang involved in armed robbery, cyber extortion and sexual assault.
The arrest of one Haruna Umar, popularly known as Kada, on November 6 led to the capture of four other members, while another suspect identified only as Ismail is still at large.
The criminals were said to have raped juvenile and married victims, recorded the assaults, and used the footage to blackmail their families. They also stole phones, ATM cards, retrieved victims’ PINs and withdrew funds.
Nine-Man Syndicate Arrested for Drugging and Robbing Tricycle Rider
The Command also confirmed the arrest of nine suspects linked to the robbery of a commercial tricycle operator who was reportedly drugged with a banned substance mixed into a beverage along the Abuja–Kaduna expressway near Gonin Gora on September 16.
The tricycle was later recovered in Zaria, and multiple gang members were subsequently apprehended.
Fake Doctor Arrested After Treating Eight Patients
Police also arrested a 44-year-old man, Adamu Abubakar Muhammed, for impersonating a medical doctor at a hospital in Kawo, Kaduna.
The impostor had been working at the facility for a month using a license belonging to his friend, a qualified medical practitioner. He confessed to being a medical school dropout and to illegally operating on eight patients.
Police, Military, DSS Intensify Joint Operations
CP Muhammad emphasised that the successes were achieved through collaboration with the Nigerian Army, DSS, and other security agencies, as well as community informants.
“These operations are part of our expanded intelligence-driven policing aimed at dismantling criminal networks across the state,” he said.
