The Osun State Signage and Advertisement Agency (OSSAA) has dismissed allegations by the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) that regulatory actions taken against some billboards were politically motivated.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Signage, Hoarding and Advertisement Agency, Hon. Ridwan Wale Ayofe-Aminu, described the APC’s claims as “baseless and politically contrived,” insisting that the agency’s operations are guided strictly by existing laws and regulations.
Ayofe-Aminu said the APC was attempting to portray routine enforcement of signage regulations as political persecution, stressing that billboard and outdoor advertisement rules in the state are uniform, transparent and apply equally to all political parties and stakeholders.
According to him, there was no directive either explicit or implied to target any political party or candidate, adding that suggestions of victimisation were a distortion of facts.
“The Osun State Signage and Advertisement Agency operates strictly within the confines of the law. Regulations governing billboards and outdoor advertisements are non-discriminatory and apply to all,” the statement read.
The governor’s aide further accused the APC of engaging in what he described as “crocodile tears,” noting that the party previously presided over years of regulatory arbitrariness while in power but now claims concern for legality and democratic principles.
Ayofe-Aminu attributed the APC’s reaction to what he termed growing political anxiety, insisting that Governor Ademola Adeleke continues to enjoy widespread grassroots support due to his people-oriented governance.
He listed road construction, prompt payment of workers’ salaries and community-focused projects as evidence of the current administration’s performance, adding that such achievements could not be erased by “press theatrics or propaganda.”
The statement also suggested that the controversy surrounding billboards was a reflection of political panic ahead of the 2026 governorship election, expressing confidence that the APC would face defeat at the polls.
The agency urged the APC to focus on rebuilding its credibility rather than attacking lawful institutions, noting that the people of Osun State are politically conscious and able to distinguish between governance and political gimmicks.
Ayofe-Aminu reaffirmed the Osun State Government’s commitment to fairness, the rule of law and democratic principles under the leadership of Governor Ademola Adeleke.
