The Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Kebbi State chapter, Abdulrazak Abubakar Issa Iko has described His Excellency, Comrade Dr Nasir Idris as a visionary leader, who consistently places the interest of the masses at heart.
He made this known on Thursday at Government House Birnin Kebbi when he led executive members of ADC on a sympathy visit to the Governor following the release of the 24 abducted schoolgirls of Government Girls’ Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga.
The chairman said that despite political differences, it was extremely necessary to speak the truth and “call a spade a spade”, noting that Governor Idris Kaura deserves special commendation from the good people of Kebbi State.
“We are here to sympathise with you and to congratulate you over the kidnap and release of the 24 abducted girls of Government Girls’ Comprehensive Secondary School (GGCSS), Maga. There is no doubt, that you played a crucial and very important role in ensuring that these girls were released unharmed.
“We must commend your good efforts. It shows that you are a good and reliable leaders, one who cares for his people, and listen to their plights.
“It is on record that you have transformed not only the state capital but each of the four Emirates has received its share of developmental projects. Well-done, Your Excellency, you are doing well,” he said.
The chairman stated that ADC felt it necessary to put the record straight, clarifying that the party’s visit was solely to sympathize with the Governor over the Maga school abduction.
He also assured the Governor that, as of now, the party has no gubernatorial candidate for the 2027 general election.
“People cannot sit in Abuja and claim that they have declared their intention to contest for governorship position in Kebbi State.
“For anyone to contest for governorship position, under the ADC such a person must be a bonafide member of the party,” emphasized.
Responding, Governor Nasir Idris thanked the ADC executive members for their visit and for sympathising with him and the people of Kebbi state over the abduction incident.
He said his administration was doing everything possible to run an all inclusive government, where everyone is carried along, regardless of political affiliation.
The Governor stressed the need for ADC and all other opposition parties to join hands with his government to bring positive development across Kebbi State.
He praised the doggedness of ADC executives, noting that they have demonstrated true “politics without bitterness” and urged them to sustain the spirit for the progress of the state.
