…Gov Adeleke approved funds to complete old LAUTECH abandoned building
Wife of Osun State Governor, Her Excellency, Erelu Ngozi Adeleke has urged women to embrace equity and create an inclusive environment for themselves to grow as a people.
She stated this during the event marking 2023 Uniosun Women’s Day which took place at Olagunsoye Oyinlola Auditorium of the University. The theme of the event was tagged “Embracing Equity”.
Mrs Adeleke voiced her happiness for the honour by the University Council and emphasized on the need to combat gender stereotypes, discrimination as well as the importance of giving equity a huge embrace that will create an inclusive environment for us to grow as a people.
“I want to appreciate the entire management team of the Osun State University, most especially the vice chancellor of the University, Prof. Odunayo Clement Adebooye.
“Permit me to mention that we live in a society where equity is not properly embraced. Equity is not just a social necessity but a core value that we must embrace as an integral part of our societal norms. When each individual or group of people is given the same resources or opportunities, that is called equity.
“We must therefore embrace equity and create an inclusive environment for us to grow as a people. While I commend those who have been at the forefront of ensuring equity prevails in our contemporary society, I want to further charge other change-seeking elements to begin a crusade for equity by actively supporting and embracing equity within our own sphere of influence”, the statement noted.
Speaking, the Vice-chancellor of the University, Professor Clement Adebooye appreciated the wife of the governor for gracing the celebration with her presence and said the University is grateful for the intervention of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke over the age-long abandoned building that will soon wear a new look.
“There is a 12 year-old abandoned building by the old LAUTECH which was almost in a state of dilapidation. When Governor Ademola Adeleke came onboard, I went to greet him and explained the situation of things to him. He promised to assist to University in completing the abandoned project. Today, he has approved a whooping sum for the completion of the building located at Isale Osun which has 59 offices as we speak. As soon as the building is completed, the University will invite His Excellency for the commissioning”, Prof. Adebooye noted.
