A 21-year-old graduate from the University of Calabar (UNICAL), Miss Glory Tete, was crowned as the Queen of Humanity 2024 during the grand finale of the pageant held in Cross River State.
Organised by Bishop Eyoanwan Bassey Otu, wife of the Governor of Cross River State, the pageant aims to celebrate the virtues, wisdom, and strength of young women.
The event took place at the Calabar International Conference Centre and was attended by Cross River State Governor, Senator Bassey Edet Otu, notable figures, including the Deputy Governor, and members of both the Federal and State Executive Councils.
During her speech, the Governor’s wife highlighted that the contestants represent the essence of humanity and the potential of the girl child as agents of change, emphasising the importance of empowering young women for a more equitable society.
She noted that the new queen would lead initiatives under the Humanity Without Borders Initiative to elevate voices and promote human progress.
After her coronation, Queen Glory Tete expressed her gratitude and commitment to using her role to promote kindness and societal values, especially among the youth.
She received a grand prize of ₦5,000,000 and a new SUV, while the first and second runners-up were awarded ₦3,000,000 and ₦1,500,000, respectively. The remaining 17 finalists were each given ₦200,000 as consolation.
The finale showcased 20 contestants in different outfits, from swimwear to traditional clothing, and included a communication skills challenge, reinforcing its commitment to empowerment and social influence.
