A man, Olumide Ajakaiye, 45, was on Thursday arraigned before a Magistrate court sitting in Osogbo for allegedly inflicting injury on a staff of Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC).
Ajakaiye was said to have assaulted one Kazeem Sulaiman, a staff of Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) Osogbo with a cutlass and inflicted injury on his left leg.
According to the charge sheet, the offence was committed on March 29, 2023, at about 10:30hrs at Ayekale area, Osogbo.
The charge sheet reads: “That you Olumide Ajakaiye on the 29th day of March 2023 at about 1030hrs at Ayekale Area, Osogbo in the Osogbo Magistrate District did conduct yourself in a manner likely to cause the breach of the peace and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 249(D) of the Criminal Code CAP 34 Vol. II Laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002.
“That you Olumide Ajakaiye on the same date and place in the aforementioned Magistrate District did ASSAULT one Kazeem Sulaiman ‘M’ a staff of Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) Osogbo with a cutlass and inflicted injury on his left leg and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under 355 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. II Laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002”.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the two counts bordering on breach of peace and assault.
In his ruling, Magistrate O.A Odeleye granted the defendant bail in the sum of #100,000 with one surety in like sum.
He however adjourned the case to April 12, 2023, for hearing.
