The lawmaker representing Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Wole Oke, on Monday, advised those aspiring for the candidature of the Peoples Democratic Party in the Osun State governorship election not to embark on needless venture, stressing that only Senator Ademola Adeleke has the war chest to finance the poll.
Oke, in a statement made available to journalists in Osogbo, the state capital, said that other aspirants should concede the ticket to Adeleke in the July 16 governorship election.
“Except we are deceiving ourselves, it is very clear that the only candidate that has the war chest to prosecute the next gubernatorial election in Osun State is Senator Ademola Adeleke. Nobody should waste our time.
“By tradition, practices and convention, our last gubernatorial candidate in the last election, Senator Ademola Adeleke, should have been adopted except if he declines. Let’s put our house in order to record victory; let there be peace in Ife/Ijesa Senatorial District,” the statement read.
It urged the representative of the Ife/Ijesa Senatorial District, Francis Fadahunsi, to mediate in the crisis rocking the party, warning that failing to do so might affect their fortune at the poll.
“Senator Adenigba Fadahunsi is today, by the grace of God, the only PDP sitting Senator from Osun State and by extension, the leader of the PDP in Ife/Ijesa land and Osun State.
“Senator Fadahunsi should act now by calling his feuding children together and settle the rift among them amicably.
“For the first time in history, we have both the Osun State PDP Chairman, the South-West Zonal Chairman and the PRO from Ijesa land. It’s a big plus for us.
“Let us put our house in order. All cases in court against PDP should be withdrawn. Prince Diran Odeyemi’s letter to the PDP National Chairman did not ask for Hon. Adagunodo’s removal. We should all prevail on those wishing to use Adagunodo’s previous legal battles to settle scores to desist from doing so,” the statement read.
