Anti-graft agencies, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, as well as the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, have been called upon to invite for questioning and accelerated prosecution, the immediate past governor of Osun State and the current minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola over financial crimes committed against the state while presiding over Osun State affairs.
In a steady signed by PDP state chairman, Hon. Sunday, PDP also asked the anti-graft agencies to arrest all individuals involved in the wicked raiding of the state as contained in the petition by the state government to the EFCC.
According to him, the magnitude of the amount of the resources of the state carted away by officials under the Apc administration in which the former governor served as principal culprit and enabler, was more than a fatal stab on the neck and the wellbeing of the people of Osun State.
“While we always knew there were sharp practices by the Oyetola led immediate past administration, the amount involved and the reckless manner in which the naked lootings were perpetrated was not only shocking but mind-blowing.
The mindless award of contracts to serving officials under Oyetola appears to us just as it lays credence to our previous allegations that the defeated former governor was an encyclopedia of financial impropriety watching over some brutal cash and carry carnivores.
The ugly withdrawals from the ALGON account into the stabilization account, from where humongous daily cash withdrawals were made by serving officials under Mr Oyetola, running into billions of naira, has further exposed the main motive behind the current desperation of the Apc to usurp local government administration in Osun State.
It will interest the people of Osun State and objective Nigerians, that all funds moved to the stabilization account should be approved by the state governor, which implies that all the billions of Naira moved and withdrawn in cash, by serving officials under Mr Gboyega Oyetola were approved by him, which runs contrary to the money laundering law of the Federation.
“The state government investigation has brought to the fore, why Apc is desperate to kill everyone to sit over local government funds in the state. The current revelation of the horrendous fraud of the ousted government was enough for any armed robber to nurse a comeback by all means”
We urge the the EFCC to demonstrate its expertise and live true to the financial well-being of the federation as its core objective, by collaborating with relevant local and international security agencies, to see to urgent repatriation of one Akeem Ibitoye, an accomplice partner in monumental fraud, who according to information, has been assisted by principal actors in the Apc free for all robbery, to flee the country.
Akeem Ibitoye was a former director of finance and supplies in Ifedayo local government before he was moved to Ejigbo local government, also as the director of finance and supplies. He served under one Abiodun Idowu, the then chairman of Ifedayo local government, who doubled as the then ALGON chairman during the ill-fated Apc administration of Mr Gboyega Oyetola.
We also call on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to rise above partisan politics and assist in the recovery of the stolen funds belonging to Osun State by directing the EFCC to bring all the indicted officials to justice. Interestingly, most of them are currently serving in his administration
We salute the the diligence and doggedness of Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, for the painstaking investigation carried out to nab the Apc thieves, whose aim was nothing but to destroy the state.
