The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator (Dr.) Ajibola Basiru, has come down hard on the former Speaker of Osun House of Assembly, Hon. Timothy Owoeye; ex-Chief Press Secretary to former Governor Oyetola, Ismail Omipidan; and the former Finance Commissioner, Bola Oyebamiji, describing their recent attacks on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Ademola Adeleke as shameful, uncivilised, and a dangerous affront to the unity of the party and the dignity of the Nigerian Presidency.
In a stinging rebuttal, SRJ lambasted the trio as “political toddlers who have no understanding of national politics, no grasp of common decorum, and no place in the next political future of our party.”
“It is sad that these so-called leaders, in their desperation to gain attention, have reduced the image of Osun APC to a laughing stock nationwide. What level of desperation will make anyone question the constitutional and moral right of President Tinubu to welcome any Nigerian, irrespective of party or region?”
Senator Basiru didn’t mince words, warning them sternly to start “using Ori pipe” a Yoruba phrase meaning they should start applying sense and wisdom in their utterances and actions.
“Their statements not only belittled the President, but they also insulted the integrity of the presidency. They need to go back to school not for degrees, but to learn the basic rudiments of political responsibility and loyalty.”
He mocked their failed ambitions and desperation for power, noting that none of them could withstand a free and fair primary within the APC.
“These local champions think they can bamboozle their way to the governorship ticket in 2026. Let it be known: the APC is not a daycare centre for entitled apprentices. You cannot insult the President today and expect to ride on his name tomorrow.”
Taking direct aim at Hon. Timothy Owoeye, SRJ said: “The former Speaker should step back from the media. His frequent, senseless commentaries only reduce our party to ridicule. If he has any honour left, he should allow those with political sense and dignity to speak.”
Osun APC; a House in Ruins! This blistering critique has deepened the already exposed cracks in Osun APC, revealing a party caught among many irreconcilable factions: one loyal to SRJ and progressive values of national integration, the other entrenched in petty localism and outdated political entitlement under the fading influence of former Governor Gboyega Oyetola, Baba Bisi Akande and Otunba Iyiola Omisore.
The reality now is stark: the Osun APC is no longer a coherent political vehicle. With every careless utterance from the Oyetola-Oyebamiji-Owoeye camp, the party’s credibility erodes before the Nigerian public, and worse before the President himself.
It’s time the Presidency reconsiders its involvement with this fragmented Osun APC. If these voices represent the so-called “future” of the party in Osun, then the future is nothing but a slow death march.
