Dear Honourable Adebayo Banik,
It is with deep concern and a sense of responsibility to the peace and progress of Osun State that I respond to your comments aired on Fresh FM Osogbo earlier today.
As a former Commissioner for Local Government, your voice still holds some influence. But instead of using it to inspire constructive dialogue, you chose to engage in rhetoric that was not only unruly, but dangerously close to incitement.
Let me be clear: this kind of behavior does not serve the interest of the people, and it certainly does not help your political party. If your intention was to win public sympathy or rally support, what you achieved instead was the opposite you reminded Osun people of why your party was voted out in the first place.
In a time when the citizens of Osun are seeking responsible leadership, visionary ideas, and a tone of unity, your words came across as hostile, bitter, and deeply irresponsible. If this is the face your party continues to present to the public, then a return to power will remain a distant dream.
Politics in Osun has moved forward. The people are more enlightened, more engaged, and more determined than ever to reject any form of desperation masked as political commentary. No matter how frustrated you may feel, the path back to power cannot and will not be paved with insults, threats, or inflammatory language.
You have every right to criticize the government and express dissent—democracy demands it. But when your language becomes reckless, you not only undermine your own credibility, you drag down your entire party with you.
This is a call to reflect. Osun deserves mature voices, not political arsonists. If your party is serious about winning back the trust of the people, it must start by holding its leaders and spokespersons to a higher standard.
