
OSCOTECH Expands Academic Offerings with NBTE Approval of 20 New Programmes

Osun State College of Technology (OSCOTECH), Esa-Oke, has secured accreditation for all programmes presented during the recent accreditation exercise conducted by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), while also receiving approval to commence 20 new academic programmes.
The development represents a significant achievement for the institution as it continues to expand its academic offerings and strengthen its commitment to quality technical education.
The accreditation exercise saw the successful re-accreditation of 11 existing programmes. At the National Diploma (ND) level, the accredited programmes are Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Science, Agricultural Technology, Multimedia Technology, Arts and Industrial Design, Accountancy, Banking and Finance, and Business Administration.
At the Higher National Diploma (HND) level, NBTE renewed accreditation for Banking and Finance, Accountancy and Statistics.
The board also approved the introduction of 20 new programmes across the ND and HND levels.
The newly approved ND programmes are Mass Communication, Procurement and Supply Chain Management, Environmental Science and Management Technology, Food Science Technology, and Transport Planning and Management.
At the HND level, the approved programmes include Arts and Industrial Design (Textile Option), Arts and Industrial Design (Graphics Option), Office Technology Management, Agribusiness Management, Animal Production Technology, Crop Production Technology, Agricultural Extension and Management, Film and Multimedia Production, Library and Information Science, Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security and Data Protection, Mechatronics Engineering Technology (Industrial Mechatronics Option), Mechatronics Engineering Technology (Automotive Mechatronics Option), Marketing, and Taxation.
Reacting to the development, the Rector of the institution, Mr. S.A. Adewumi, described the achievement as evidence of the college’s dedication to maintaining high academic standards.
“This achievement is a clear testament to the institution’s unwavering commitment to quality education, academic excellence and continuous improvement in infrastructure, manpower development, teaching and curriculum delivery,” Adewumi said.
The rector commended the Governing Council, chaired by Prince Diran Odeyemi, as well as the management, staff, students, alumni and other stakeholders for their contributions to the successful accreditation exercise.
He noted that the approval of the new programmes reflects the institution’s determination to align its academic curriculum with emerging global trends and evolving industry demands.
“The approval of these programmes demonstrates our resolve to position the college at the forefront of innovation and workforce development, particularly in critical fields such as Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, Mechatronics Engineering, Environmental Management, Media and Communication Studies, and Agribusiness,” he said.
According to Adewumi, the newly approved programmes will enhance the institution’s capacity to produce highly skilled graduates equipped with the knowledge, competencies and entrepreneurial mindset needed to thrive in a rapidly changing global economy.
He assured prospective students, parents and the general public that OSCOTECH would continue to uphold the highest standards of technical and vocational education.

He added that the successful accreditation and approval exercise further reinforces the institution’s reputation as one of Nigeria’s leading polytechnics in teaching, research, innovation, entrepreneurship and technological advancement.
