Defection: Two more Osun Senator’s Aides resign, pledges loyalty to PDP

By Tomi Lala

Two more aides working with Senator Ajagunla Olubiyi Fadeyi have resigned on Saturday following his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Olalekan Oloyede, his Senior Special Assistant on Research, and Hon Yusuff Abdullahi, his Special Assistant on Inter-Party Relations, both stepped down, noting that they can no longer support the Senator’s political move.

In the resignation letter released by the two aides which was made available to newsmen, Ogunwale said he was disappointed by the defection, describing it as a betrayal of the promises made to the people during the last election.

The letter reads, “I write to formally tender my resignation as your Senior Special Assistant on Research with immediate effect.

“This decision comes after deep personal reflection and in light of your recent defection from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressive Congress (APC). While I respect your right to political realignment, I cannot in good conscience follow that path. My loyalty remains with the PDP-a party that gave you and many of us the platform to rise, serve, and make an impact.

“I am also fully committed to the second-term election bid of His Excellency, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke (IMOLE) whose leadership continues to inspire hope, growth and inclusive governance across Osun State.”

In his letter, Adesiyan said that despite being young and having opportunities to make a positive impact, Olubiyi’s self-serving motives and desire for personal gain led them to waste the potential.

The letter reads, “Please accept this letter as formal notice of my resignation from my position as SPECIAL ADVISER ON MOBILIZATION effective from 25th July, 2025.

“I appreciate the opportunities I have had while working with you and I am grateful for the experience and knowledge gained during my tenure.

“However, I have decided that it is time for me to move on because during the time of working with you I discovered that you are such a terrible leader that are sitting tightly, running around, hustling in the political landscape for position and power. You don’t know how to build up the young ones to take over. No ideology, no principles, no scruples, no legacy. It’s only your pockets and family you work for.

“Despite being young and having opportunities to make a positive impact, your self-serving motives and desire for personal gain led you to waste the potential. As we all know that politics is all about interest, my loyalty remain with the PDP, the party that gave you and many of us the platform to rise and make an impact.”
