Osun Residents, Netizens Hail Gov Adeleke’s Free Wi-Fi Initiative

Netizens across major platforms, including X (formerly Twitter) and Facebook, have hailed Governor Ademola Adeleke’s free Wi-Fi project, hailing it as a bold step for digital inclusion and youth empowerment.

The project, branded Imole Wi-Fi, was launched in Osogbo and is expected to expand to other parts of the state. Governor Adeleke, while unveiling the initiative, described it as a “gateway to opportunity,” noting that it would break barriers and connect communities.

Special Adviser on Innovation, Science and Technology, Mr. Azeez Badmus, explained that the rollout would begin in Osogbo before spreading across the state. The first phase covers key locations such as the Osun State Library, Alphastart Hub, Osun Mall, Salvation Army Middle School, and Osogbo Grammar School.

The initiative has drawn widespread praise online, with many residents describing it as innovative and impactful, especially for students and entrepreneurs in the state capital.

Commenting on X, @Kabs wrote: “Thank you, I don sharply reach Osun already… make I park well first.”
Another user, @Drealmagnus, noted: “If this happens, it is going to be a very good development for the indigenes and residents of the state. It will foster urban development and job opportunities. Kudos to the government in advance.”
@sarki_suleimanu added: “Nice one from Osun State 👏. At least this will really help students, small businesses, and even residents to stay connected in today’s digital world.”

@IamErioluwa said: “This is good. Apparently, the people of Osun are happier with the governor compared to his predecessors. Free internet is like free fuel in this economy.”

And @AugustusEzenwankwo concluded: “This news really makes me happy. Only yesterday, I made a video about the rising cost of data in Nigeria. More initiatives like this, or even subsidies, will help ease the burden on citizens.”
