Oyebamiji Accepts Defeat, Congratulates Adeleke, Condemns Post-Election Killings

The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the August 15, 2026 Osun State governorship election, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, has accepted the outcome of the election and congratulated Governor Ademola Adeleke on his victory as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, stated this on Saturday in Osogbo while addressing APC leaders, members and supporters on the outcome of the election and the party’s preparations for the 2027 general elections.
He called on Adeleke, as the Chief Security Officer of the state, to take urgent steps to stop what he described as killings, harassment and intimidation of APC members and supporters following the election.
Oyebamiji expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support before, during and after the election, while also commending former Osun State Governor, Chief Bisi Akande, for his counsel and support.
He also praised the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy and former Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, for his contribution to the repositioning of the APC in the state.
Speaking on his emergence as the APC governorship candidate in December 2025, Oyebamiji said the various tendencies within the party later put aside their differences and united behind the party’s campaign.
He said the campaign covered different parts of the state, with the party engaging civil servants, retirees, artisans, students, youths, entrepreneurs, women, professionals, sporting groups, persons living with disabilities and religious organisations.
Oyebamiji, however, expressed concern over what he described as violence before, during and particularly after the election.
He mentioned the deaths of former Irewole Local Government Chairman, Hon. Remi Abass; APC Chairman in Atakumosa Local Government, Chief Gbenga Ogbara; Dele Ayegbo, nephew of the Director-General of the APC Governorship Campaign Council, Hon. Wole Oke; and other alleged victims of political violence.
He called on the Nigeria Police Force to investigate the reported killings thoroughly and ensure that those found culpable were prosecuted.
The APC candidate also commiserated with the families of victims of political violence, assuring them that they would not be abandoned.
While congratulating Adeleke on his victory and joining the people of Osun in marking the state’s 35th anniversary, Oyebamiji urged the governor to use his constitutional responsibilities to protect the lives and property of residents.
He condemned attacks on APC members, supporters and businesses allegedly targeted because of their political affiliations.
According to him, such acts could undermine efforts to attract investment and create employment opportunities in the state.
“The senseless killings, harassment and intimidation of members and supporters of our party must therefore stop forthwith,” Oyebamiji said.
On the post-election developments, he said the APC would continue to pursue justice and fairness through lawful and constitutional means, particularly in relation to the electoral process.
Oyebamiji urged APC members and supporters not to be discouraged by the outcome of the election, but to remain committed to democracy and have confidence in institutions established to protect their democratic rights.
He also called on APC leaders, members and supporters across the state to commence preparations for the 2027 general elections, particularly the re-election bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He urged party members to close ranks, strengthen the party’s structures and work towards securing victories for Tinubu and other APC candidates in Osun State.
Oyebamiji commended APC members for their resilience and commitment, saying the party would continue to pursue its vision of a greater Osun where resources are equitably deployed, opportunities are accessible to all and governance serves the broader interests of the people.
