Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum has flagged off the dualization and construction of five roads and two bridges in Maiduguri metropolis.
The 13.52km roads and bridges, include Ahmadu-Bello, Mogoram junction, Ummarari and Ngarnam awarded to Eighteenth Engineering Company (EEC) and Obtuse Tech Engineering Company (OTEC) at N10.88 billion.
While the projects are to be completed by the contractors in 12 months.
Flagging off the road projects, yesterday, in Maiduguri, Governor Zulum disclosed that the massive construction of roads and the Customs fly over, are to redeem the electioneering campaigns to the people in providing dividends of democracy and good governance.
“I’m glad to unveil the dualization and construction of N11 billion projects to overcome traffic gridlock and commuting in Maiduguri,” he said.
He directed the Works Permanent Secretary, Ali Goni Lawan and project sites engineers to ‘supervise and monitor’ the completion of projects.
It was also learnt that with the Ministry’s N22.9 billion budget for 2022, it has expended N10.88 billion or 47.5 percent in the first quarter on roads and bridges.
Zulum, therefore, urged the contractors to abide with the terms of contracts.
“I’ll not compromise on poor execution of projects, including the terms for specifications and roads standards,” he warned.
