The Commissioner for Culture and Tourism in Osun state , Mr Bankole Ojo has called on private investors at home and abroad to come and partner with the state with a view to benefitting from its many tourism potentialities .
The Commissioner made the call during the 2023 World Tourism Day Celebration themed “Tourism and Green Investment.”
The event which was held at the Osun Osogbo Sacred Grove, Osogbo, afforded the commissioner yet another opportunity to showcase the richness of the state in the area of culture and tourism .
Hon.Ojo stated ” It is pertinent to note that the global shift towards sustainable and green investment offers an opportunity for Osun State to develop its tourism sector while preserving its unique heritage. In the same vein, the Government of Osun is working tirelessly to explore how tourism and green investments can harmoniously contribute to its economic growth and environmental preservation.
“The State has lots of tourism potentials which lies in its blend of cultural heritage and natural wonders and destinations, such as Osun Osogbo Sacred Grove, Olumirin waterfalls in Erin-Ijesa, Osun Osogbo festival with a wealth of attractions that can captivate tourism among others”, he said.
The Guest Speaker who also doubles as the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security in the state, Mrs Adegbemisola Fayoyin noted that Agriculture and Tourism are Siamese twins which are inseparable as both are capable of developing the state and the Country at large .
She urged Osun state government to encourage tourism in Agriculture for the benefits of all.
The Curator, National Museum and World Heritage Site, Mr Aworeni Joseph in his goodwill message on the occasion called for a synergy with governmental and non governmental organizations at all levels including individuals to take advantage of what nature has freely endowed Osun state with.
Earlier in her address of welcome, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Culture and Tourism , Mrs Adebimpe Ogunlumade appreciated all the participants for gracing the event just as she declared the need for embracing and promoting agric-tourism in the state and the country at large.
Dignitaries at the event were the Director, Museums and Monuments, Mrs Solabomi Akinsola, Director, Field Research and Documentation, Mrs Kehinde Akinyemi, Director, Hotels and Hospitality, Mrs Sola Akinyemi including the management and staff of National Museums and Monuments.
