… decries the state of sporting facilities in the State before his intervention.
The Osun State House of Assembly has applauded the State Governor, Ademola Adeleke for his quick intervention on the decrying state of sport facilities in the state.
The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun, through the Chairman House Committee on Youth, Sports and Special Needs, Hon. Jeremiah Awoyeye gave the kudos on Wednesday while on a tour to the Osogbo Township Stadium, Ministry of Youths and Osun Cares offices.
Hon. Awoyeye however expressed dismay over the obvious state of neglect of sports facilities in the state.
He said; “We are very unhappy about the state of things we have seen so far, a lot of things are out of place and one can not but ask, “what have the past administrations been doing about sport development in the state? I see no development here in the past 15years.
“This inspection and visitation is not a witch-hunt but to collectively work in togetherness to drive home the 5-point agenda of the Governor.”
He promised, on behalf of the Committee, that the issue would be tendered before the General Assembly and assured that the number one lawmaker, Hon. Egbedun would lead a delegation to the Governor, to discuss the progress of sports in the state.
The Commissioner for Youths, Mr Olagunju Moshood, who led the team from the Ministry of Youths, Ministry of Sports and Special Needs and Osun Cares office appreciated the Parliamentarians for the working tour, stating that the inspection could not have come at a better time, as Osun prepares for the inspection of the sporting facilities by the NFL.
He sought the help of the Assembly in gaining ground for the Ministry of Youths as it prepares to stand alone.
Others present on the tour included: Hon. Adekunle Emmanuel, member of the Committee; the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youths, Mrs Taiwo Oladunjoye; Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Sports and Special Needs, Mr Oladele Olawoyin and the General Manager, Osogbo Stadium, Mr Rotimi Dunmoye.
