….Veteran Publisher, Dele Momodu pledges to assist
Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has disclosed the readiness of his administration to bring back to life the dying glory of the entertainment industry in the State.
The governor stated this in a remark made at an event tagged “The Most Popular Celebrity Award” which was held on Saturday in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.
Adeleke who was represented by the State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hon. Bankole Ojo described entertainment industry as one of the veritable avenues to generate fame and big revenue for the state and Nigeria at large.
He recalled with nostalgia, how the likes of late Duro Ladipo, Alhaji Karim Adepoju,(“Baba Wande)” late Alh.Yekini Ajileye, Late Oyin Adejobi, Late Kola Ogunmola, Prince Antar Laniyan and Bolaji Amusan ( Latin) among several others brought national and international recognitions and fame to Osun as indigenes of the state in the theatre industry.
Adeleke said if properly harnessed and tapped the way his administration is planning to do in no distant time, over 50,000 entrepreneurs nationwide,will benefit from the entertainment industry.
The Chairman of the occasion, Dr Dele Momodu, in his message at the well attended event commended Governor Adeleke for his love and passion for the entertainment industry.
The veteran journalist and publisher of Ovation International Magazine also made his readiness known to support Osun State when the need arises for the entertainment industry to thrive.
In their separate messages, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Tourism , Hon. Tope Omitogun, Osun Tourism Board Chairman, Hon Taiwo Adeleke, and Mr Solanke Hamzat commended the thinking and wisdom of the organisers.
Earlier, the General Manager, Osun Tourism Board, Mrs Oluwatoyin Ajayi noted that, Osun is naturally endowed with talents in the creative/entertainment industry.
She applauded the state Governor for his readiness to revamp the industry as well as other sectors that have the potentials to make Osun retain its age old fame in Nigeria.
The programme was graced by many celebrities from all walks of life including top officials of Osun State Government, especially management and staff of Osun State Tourism Board and Osun State Council for Arts and Culture.
