President Bola Ahmed Tinubu arrived in Maiduguri on Monday to offer condolences to the Borno State government and residents affected by the devastating flooding caused by the Alau Dam collapsed.
The flooding has had a catastrophic impact on Maiduguri, resulting in loss of life and widespread property damage.
The President’s visit aims to demonstrate solidarity with the affected communities.
Upon his arrival at 3:15 PM, President Tinubu was received by Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum.
As part of his itinerary, he will pay a courtesy call on the Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Umar-Garbai El-Kaneni.
President Tinubu is also scheduled to visit one of the newly established relief camps, where he will interact directly with internally displaced persons (IDPs) affected by the flooding.
In response to the crisis, the Borno State government has established 36 relief camps to provide shelter and support to the thousands affected.
During his visit, President Tinubu is expected to assess the situation firsthand and provide additional support to alleviate the suffering of the flood victims.
