Agboola Bags Media Personality of the Year Award

The Chief Executive Officer of CityMirrorNews/TV, Asiwaju Ayobami Agboola, has been honoured with the Media Personality of the Year Award at the 2026 EMTV World Entertainment Awards held in Osogbo, Osun State.
The ceremony, which took place on Sunday, October 18, at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Press Centre, recognised Agboola for his contributions to journalism and media practice.
Agboola, who is also the Osun correspondent of New Telegraph, received the award from EMTV World Entertainment in collaboration with Oats Multi Global Ventures.
Other individuals were honoured in different categories, including Broadcaster of the Year, Brand of the Year and Fashion Entrepreneur of the Year.
Speaking after receiving the award, Agboola expressed appreciation to the organisers for the recognition, saying it would encourage him to remain committed to the ethics of journalism.
He dedicated the award to his family, colleagues, mentors, friends and supporters, whom he acknowledged as part of his journey in the media industry.
The media executive said the recognition had further strengthened his resolve to use journalism to inform the public, educate citizens and contribute positively to society.
He also urged journalists to remain objective and uphold professional standards in their daily activities.
“We should try as much as possible to always uphold the principle of objectivity and we should be professional enough in the course of discharging our duties as media practitioners,” Agboola said.
Earlier, the Creative Director of EMTV World Entertainment, Emmanuel Olayinka Salako, said the awards were introduced to celebrate individuals whose dedication and achievements had earned them recognition in their respective fields.
Salako said the selection of nominees was based on their work, strengths and demonstrated abilities, adding that the nomination process was conducted online.
He explained that the initiative was designed to promote excellence across various professions and recognise individuals making meaningful contributions to society.
EMTV World Entertainment, founded in 2019, is a Nigerian media and talent-promotion organisation based in Osun State, with branches across southwestern Nigeria.
The organisation promotes emerging talents and recognises outstanding contributions in areas such as entrepreneurship, fashion, event management, storytelling and media.
