ACCI VP Legal,Aisha Ado Speaks on Terror Financing on Radio France International

Aisha Ado Abdullahi, Vice President of Legal for the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), was recently featured on Radio France International (Hausa) in a discussion on terror financing.
The program, hosted by Editor Bashir Ibrahim Idris, brought together key stakeholders in Nigeria’s legal, business community and financial sectors to address critical issues surrounding the financing of terrorism in the West African region.


Joining the ACCI VP Legal, in the studio were Al-Zubair Abubakar, Esq., a distinguished private legal practitioner, and Alhaji Aminu Gwadabe, President of the Association of Bureau de Change Operators of Nigeria. Together, the panel engaged in a comprehensive dialogue on the subject of terrorism financing, with a particular focus on the role of the Inter-Governmental Action Group against Money Laundering in West Africa (GIABA), a specialized ECOWAS institution committed to combating money laundering and terrorist financing.


The discussants explored how terrorist organizations exploit financial systems to fund illicit activities, and the collaborative efforts necessary to mitigate these threats. Abdullahi emphasized the importance of public and private sector cooperation in implementing effective anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing (AML/CFT) measures, highlighting the significance of sensitization programs facilitated by GIABA in raising awareness and promoting compliance across industries.


The discussion underscored the urgent need for enhanced vigilance, improved regulatory oversight, and greater collaboration among stakeholders in the fight against terrorism financing. The ACCI remains committed to supporting initiatives aimed at strengthening the Nigerian economy.
