Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has described the exit of a popular Islamic preacher, Sheikh Muideen Bello as a huge loss to the Muslim community, sending the condolences of the people and Government of Osun state to Governor Seyi Makinde and the Muslim ummah of Oyo state and Nigeria as a whole.
In a statement, Governor Adeleke who recalled the huge contributions of the late Sheikh to the development of Islam across Nigeria said the Kano based cleric was renowned for his fearless speaking of truth to power and his unbending upholding of traditional teachings of Islam.
“For several decades, the late Sheikh Bello was a popular voice in the propagation of Islam. Several generations of Muslims grew up to know the sonorous voice echoing ageless truth about humanity, creation and religion.
“ He was a fearless man of Allah, a messenger of Islamic truths, a widely traveled agent of God and a preacher with strong national and international networks. Sheikh Bello is a man of many towns and cities, a man whose legacy transcends the shore of Nigeria.
“ We mourn the exit of the legendary preacher. We celebrate his huge accomplishments during his lifetime. We condole with the Muslim ummah as we pray almighty Allah to grant him Aljannah firdaus”, the Governor was quoted as saying in the condolence message.
