The Sokoto State command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC has suspended all volunteer related operational activities in the command pending the outcome of an investigation instituted by the commandant, Mohammed Sale-Dada.
This is revealed In a statement signed by the command Public Relations Officer, DSC Hamza Adamu-Illela and made available to newsmen in Sokoto.
The statement quoted the Commandant, Mr. Sale-Dada saying, the suspension follow the recent arrest of some volunteers members of the Corps during a joint operation in all the black spots areas of Sokoto South local Government area of the state.
The commandant said the attitude of the arrested volunteer members is unholy, unwarranted and aimed at tarnishing the image of the Corps , whose mandate is to fight crime and criminality in the society.
He said the arrested volunteers are not duly registered by the Sokoto state command of NSCDC and therefore remain disowned pending the outcome of an investigation and profiling of all personnel engage in volunteer operational activities.
Chairman of Sokoto South local area Faruk Sawidi led a team of security personnel on a raid of dark spots within the council and in the process some volunteer personnel of the NSCDC were arrested within the den of criminals in Diplomat Area of Sokoto state.
