Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has signed the Osun State Park Management Bill into law, signalling the commencement of a new framework for the management of motor parks and the transport sector across the state.
In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the governor said the new law would help address the longstanding challenges in the state’s transportation park system and improve services for commuters and transport operators.
Adeleke signed the bill at the Government House, Osogbo, where he commended the State House of Assembly for its role in initiating and passing the legislation.
“I applaud the House Speaker and members of the House for always acting in the best interest of the state. I have gone through the bill as passed by the House and I am convinced that it is the best solution to the perennial crisis and challenges facing the Osun transportation park system,” the governor said.
He said the implementation of the law would begin immediately, assuring transport stakeholders that the government would ensure that the interests of residents and other relevant stakeholders were protected.
“Having signed this bill into law, I assure all stakeholders that implementation will commence in earnest. In line with the law, we will ensure that Osun people and other interests are accommodated for efficient service delivery across the state,” Adeleke said.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun, said the Assembly followed its standing rules in processing and passing the bill.
Egbedun said the new legislation addressed key concerns surrounding the management of motor parks in the state and incorporated sustainable transport practices.
He assured the governor and the people of the state that the Assembly had carefully considered issues affecting the transport sector before passing the legislation.
The signing ceremony was attended by the Deputy Governor, Prince Kola Adewusi, Secretary to the State Government, Hon. Teslim Igbalaye, Head of Service, Elder Ayanleye Aina, members of the State Executive Council and other senior government officials.
