Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) lauded the election of Oluwasoromidayo George as the chairman of Manufacturer Association of Nigeria Export Trade Group (MAN) Export Trade Group).
The Director General ACCI, Dr Victoria Akai in a congratulatory message issued on behalf of the Chamber stated that the election of Oluwasoromidayo would bring great developments to the group adding that her election into this great position was due to her achievement in various sectors she has served in the past.
Dr Akai also stated that this new assignment would give her the opportunities to prove again dedications, commitment and strength of delivery.
The newly elected Chairman is the Corporate Affairs and Sustainable Business Director, Unilever, West Africa, and the Chairperson of the UN Global Compact Network Nigeria.
Oluwasoromidayo is also a Co-Chair of the CEO Water Mandate Council, representing the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) as well as the first female Executive Director of the British American Tobacco Nigeria Foundation (BATN Foundation) and the Head of Corporate Affairs, British American Tobacco (BAT) in West and Central Africa.
She is the co-founder of the Corporate Social Responsibility and Governance Institute. In 2016, she set up the Heart of Ruth Fund (now the Heart of Ruth Foundation) to help rehabilitate women and children who are abused, or economically disadvantaged. She is a DBA candidate at Walden University where she is researching Bottom of the Pyramid marketing strategies in emerging markets.
She is also a member of AIESEC Nigeria, Board of Advisors, a Fellow of the WIMBOARD Institute, a WIMBIZ/IE University, Madrid Executive Education Programme for Women on Boards, and was a member of the WIMBIZ Executive Council.
Oluwasoromidayo had also sat as an adjunct member of faculty at the School of Media and Communication, Pan-Atlantic University, and is currently the Chairman, Manufacturers Association of Nigeria Export Group (MANEG). She also sits on the Ministry of Environment’s committee on Plastic Waste Management in Nigeria and on the Board of the Nigerian Business Disability Network.
