The announcement was made on Wednesday, July 9, during the Council of Ministers in Bamako.
Background to the meeting
This meeting follows a joint declaration signed on 1 August 2024 in Bamako by the relevant ministers. In February 2025, a ministerial meeting of the AES was held in Bamako , bringing together members of the governments of Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger.
Objectives of the Niamey meeting
Experts from the three ESA member countries will meet on July 14 and 15.
The ministers will then meet again on July 17 and 18. The aim is to find concrete ways to implement the ESA heads of state’s vision for promoting women’s rights. This will include strengthening women’s participation in decision-making and regional initiatives.
The declaration of August 1, 2024, reaffirmed the commitment of the ESA countries to strengthening women’s rights as a lever for development and sovereignty. The ESA includes Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso.
