● As Kolapo Alimi Receives Star Reception in PDP
As the Governorship Campaign Council of Osun state Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is set to commence state-wide local government campaign on Monday, the governorship candidate, Senator Ademola Adeleke said he is bringing something new to governance space in Osun state.
The local government campaign to be led by the governorship candidate, Senator Ademola Adeleke, his running mate, Prince Kola Adewusi, the Chairman of Imole Team, Prof Wale Oladipo and other leaders will take off from Ife South local government.
Speaking ahead of the campaign, the governorship candidate declares his goal on the tour as that of “direct interface and interaction with Osun people at the local level to present our agenda, to share their pains and to offer our solutions.
According to him, “I have detailed understanding of the needs and aspirations of our people. I will present our agenda to them and also seeks their review and counselling. I will make the campaign a heart to heart engagement with our people. I want to be a peoples governor, serving them and bring governance to their doorsteps.
“I am bringing something new to the table because Osun governance problems cannot be resolved by cosmetic reforms. I have done in-depth analysis of the problems, hence our five point agenda. We cannot be doing the same thing and expect new results. We have to do something innovative. That is the secret of my five point agenda.
“Let me reiterate that our five point agenda of workers’ welfare; local patronage for boosting state economy; labour intensive infrastructure agenda; social policy reform in education/ health; and agro based industrialisation are designed to rejig the state economy, create wealth, jobs and secure our youths and women.
“I reiterate that I am ready to hit the ground running from day one. Our 100 days programme of action is ready. I hope to unveil details of our governance agenda on this local government campaign tour as well as the senatorial town hall meetings I am going to be addressing”, Senator Adeleke noted.
The campaign is commencing amidst a high profile defection into the PDP by Hon Kolapo Alimi, a former commissioner for local government affairs under former Governor Rauf Aregbesola. Hon Alimi was also a prime force in the Osun Progressives, a major faction of the All Progressives Congress in Osun state.
Welcoming Hon Alimi into the PDP, the Director General of the Council, Hon Sunday Bisi described Hon Alimi as “a popular politician, a grassroots mobiliser and political strategist”, adding “we welcome Hon Alimi and his teeming associates with open arms.
“The leadership has subsequently appointed Hon Alimi as the Deputy Director General of the campaign council. This is in recognition of his pedigree, antecedents and strong political network. We also took the decision to demonstrate our readiness for inclusiveness and openness to other leaders who may want to join the Imole train of victory”, Hon Bisi noted.
Welcoming Hon Alimi to the Imole team, the governorship candidate of the PDP, Senator Ademola Adeleke commended the former commissioner for placing the interest of Osun people ahead of other considerations, affirming that “we need all patriots to join us in this task to redeem our state.
“Politics should be about the interest of the citizens. Hon Alimi is joining us for the sake of Osun people who need to be liberated from vile grip of Oyetola and the APC. I urge more leaders of conscience to join the Imole team. We are open to accommodate and integrate all new comers in our collective bid to redeem our people”, Senator Adeleke noted.
