Clara Brandi will take up the permanent professorship on September 1, 2022. Brandi’s appointment is the second joint appointment by IDOS and the University of Bonn. The first involved the joint appointment of Professor Hornidge, IDOS director, with the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Bonn.

“We are very pleased on the part of the IDOS to structurally anchor the cooperation with the law and political science faculty of the University of Bonn with this joint appointment. It is an important step in expanding cooperation in research, the promotion of young researchers and high-level policy advice. The latter is particularly important when it comes to dealing with the multidimensional crises of our time and economic answers. The economics department at the University of Bonn, which according to the Shanghai Ranking 2022 is the frontrunner in Germany, is a strong partner here,” says Hornidge.

“I am very much looking forward to leading our research program at IDOS, while also teaching at the University of Bonn and expanding the collaboration between IDOS and the University of Bonn,” said Clara Brandi on the occasion of her appointment. “I would like to advance research and policy advice that contributes to solving the important global challenges of our time. How should we shape economic policy in order to strengthen the global common good? How can we promote transnational cooperation in business and politics to tackle the climate crisis? I would like to contribute new research results and impulses to central questions like these,” Brandi continues.

professor dr Jürgen von Hagen, dean of the university’s law and political science faculty, also emphasized the new opportunities from the university’s point of view: “The economics department of the University of Bonn is pleased about the joint appointment of Ms. Brandi with the IDOS. The cooperation between our department and IDOS has great potential in research, policy advice and the training of young scientists. With the joint appointment, a first step towards using this potential has been taken”.
