The opposition’s attempt to forcibly take control of Local Government Secretariats in Osun State has been effectively thwarted, thanks to Governor Ademola Adeleke’s adept and mature political leadership.
In a statement released by the group on Sunday, Osun Youths and Elders Advocate for Good Governance (O’YEAGG), a prominent advocacy forum in the state, also commended the governor for his resilience in resisting the opposition’s destabilizing efforts. The opposition aimed to provoke unrest in a bid to prompt the declaration of a state of emergency in the state. However, the governor’s strategic and decisive response was far more effective than the opposition’s disruptive plans.
“Additionally, the opposition sought to create a situation in Osun that may lead to negotiation similar to what occurred during the last general election, hoping to leverage chaos for political gain.
Governor Adeleke’s performance in office has been exceptional and stands in stark contrast to any attempts to undermine his administration. O’YEAGG, as a proponent of good governance, reaffirms its commitment to supporting transparent, responsible leadership. The people of Osun State have clearly rejected the APC, having experienced governance under different parties and recognizing the difference in leadership styles.
However, O’YEAGG categorically reject the use of violence for political gain and strongly warn against any political party attempting to resort to such tactics. We continue to advocate for and support the good governance that the citizens of Osun State have rightfully demanded.
