Adeleke reaffirms Oyebode Mary as Osun Iyaloja General

By Waliu Adetokun, Osogbo

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has reaffirmed Mrs Oyebode Mary as the Iyaloja General of the state, saying she remains the legally recognised holder of the position.

In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the governor said the authority to appoint the Iyaloja General rested with the state government, following an announcement by the palace of the Ataoja of Osogbo concerning the appointment of another person to the position.

Adeleke described any announcement from other quarters, including the Osogbo Royal Palace, as “null and void”, insisting that Oyebode remained the duly appointed Iyaloja General of Osun State.

“Mrs Oyebode remains the legally appointed Iyaloja General under the authority of the state government,” the governor said.

He urged market associations and women across the state to disregard any announcement concerning the appointment of a new Iyaloja General.

The governor maintained that Oyebode continued to enjoy the recognition and support of the state government in her capacity as Iyaloja General.

“Mrs Oyebode continues to enjoy the full support and recognition of the state government in her capacity as duly appointed Iyaloja General of Osun State,” the statement said.

Adeleke also called on institutions and individuals to respect the law and operate within the limits of their respective mandates.

He urged stakeholders to avoid actions that could create tension or disturb the peace of the state.
