The political atmosphere in Osun State is taking shape ahead of the 2026 Governorship Election, with recent data pointing toward a promising outlook for the incumbent, Governor Ademola Adeleke. A recent report by Geopolitics Survey International (GSI) has brought clarity to the direction of public sentiment through a credible, data-driven pre-election survey.

The GSI survey focused on structured questionnaires and responses from a cross-section of Osun residents. The outcome offers insightful perspectives into voter preferences and electoral expectations, echoing the democratic spirit that shaped the outcome of the 2022 gubernatorial race.

For Nigeria’s democracy to thrive, it is essential that citizens’ voices are heard and their votes count. The GSI report emphasizes the growing political consciousness among the people of Osun State and reflects their readiness to participate meaningfully in the democratic process.

The survey was structured around three key questions:

If the governorship election were held today, which political party would you vote for?

If the election were held today, which governorship candidate would you support?

What is the most important reason that would determine your choice?

A critical analysis of the responses shows strong support for Governor Ademola Adeleke, suggesting that he is currently the frontrunner for the 2026 election, scheduled for August 8, 2026.

The credibility of the GSI findings lies in the track record of the current administration in the state. Governor Adeleke’s leadership has been anchored on people-centered governance, with tangible achievements across key sectors. From education and health to infrastructure and economic development, his administration has demonstrated a clear commitment to addressing the basic needs of Osun’s residents.

Historically referred to as a “civil service state,” Osun has long depended on government salaries for economic activity. However, the IMOLE administration has initiated bold reforms aimed at transforming Osun into a productive and investor-friendly economy. Upgraded infrastructure and improved service delivery are drawing attention from both local and international stakeholders.

Moreover, Governor Adeleke has strategically learned from the missteps of the previous administration under the All Progressives Congress (APC). The perceived failures of the past government have not been forgotten by the electorate. The people of Osun are more politically aware and discerning than ever; they are no longer swayed by hollow promises or propaganda.

It is against this backdrop that the APC faces an uphill battle. Public opinion, as reflected in the GSI survey, indicates a strong preference for continuity under a leadership that listens, delivers, and prioritizes the welfare of the people.

Governor Adeleke’s administration is widely regarded as one that has been tested and trusted. The people believe in his vision, appreciate his efforts, and are poised to re-elect him for another term based on performance and credibility.

We commend Geopolitics Survey International for conducting a thorough and timely study. Their report serves as a spotlight on voter sentiment and provides a clear indication of the political direction ahead of the 2026 Governorship Election in Osun State.
