In my observation, the recent visit of Governor Ademola Adeleke to Chief Bisi Akande has been unnecessarily politicized by the opposition, particularly the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State. It is quite surprising that a party that is yet to present a flagbearer for the 2026 gubernatorial election is more focused on attacking a mere stakeholders’ visit rather than putting its house in order.
To me, Governor Adeleke’s visit to Baba Akande is a demonstration of political maturity and inclusivity, not desperation as some are trying to paint it. Baba Akande remains a respected statesman whose influence in Osun politics cuts across party lines. It is quite laughable that despite their internal crisis, some APC members are trying to twist this visit into a sign of weakness, when in fact, it shows Adeleke’s commitment to engaging with all key figures in Osun’s political landscape.
From my perspective, the visit was simply a show of solidarity and a move to foster unity among Osun stakeholders for the greater good of the state. Furthermore, I believe this visitation will not end with Baba Akande, many other key statesmen are on the list. In leadership and politics, consultation remains a vital tool, and Adeleke is only doing what any strategic leader should do—engage with relevant stakeholders for the development of Osun.
I find it quite ironic that a party that is yet to define its strategy for the next election is so concerned with a mere visit. If anything, this attack on Adeleke’s meeting with Baba Akande only exposes the opposition’s desperation and lack of focus. Instead of engaging in baseless criticisms, the APC should direct its energy towards resolving its internal conflicts and preparing a credible candidate for 2026.
From my point of view, Adeleke’s visit to Baba Akande is a reflection of his leadership style—one that values dialogue, unity, and respect for political elders. The attempt by the opposition to paint it as an act of desperation is nothing more than a political gimmick, revealing their own uncertainty ahead of the next election.
