Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on Tuesday commiserated with the family of the 49th Ooni of Ife, the late Oba Adesoji Aderemi, on the death of the last surviving wife of the royal father, Olori Dorcas Aderemi.
Adeleke, in a statement by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, described the passage of Olori Dorcas as a huge loss.
The governor acknowledged the life of service lived by Olori Dorcas, saying she would be sorely missed for her unwavering dedication to traditions and the royal household.
He noted her liberal nature as evident in combining tradition with her strong Christian faith.
The governor noted that the Olori comfortably combined her role as the Iyaale Aku Royal House, a position she was elevated to in 2019, with her pivotal role in St. Peter’s Anglican Church, in honouring the legacy of her late husband who was involved in the establishment of the church.
The statement partly further read, “Olori Dorcas Aderemi, who passed away at the prime age of 105, was the last surviving wife of the late Ooni Aderemi, the first Governor of the Western Region.
“The governor condoles with the Arole Oduduwa, HRM Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi Eniyan, Ojaja I, the Ile-Ife traditional council, the Olori Obas, the immediate family, and the people of Ile-Ife for this painful loss of Olori Dorcas Aderemi.
“While praying to God to repose her soul and grant her eternal rest, Governor Adeleke urges the family left behind to honour Olori Dorcas Aderemi’s memory by sustaining her legacy of contributions and sacrifices.”
