Malaria Control: Titilola Adeleke receives certificate,award as Net ambassador for Osun

Osun State Governor’s Wife, Her Excellency Chief Mrs Titilola Adeleke on Wednesday received a certificate and award as Net Ambassador of the State.

The certificate was presented to her during the flag-off ceremony of the Insecticide Treated Net Campaigns organized by the State Ministry of Health in conjunction with the Federal Ministry of Health, Development Parents, Society for Family Health, and Catholic Relief Service.

Speaking at the occasion, which took place at Local Government Service Commission Multi-Purpose Hall, Abere, Osogbo Osun State, the Governor Senator Ademola Adeleke who was ably represented by his Deputy, Prince Kola Adewusi expressed the state’s readiness to cooperate with the developing partners to ensure residents imbibe the use of ITNs.

He also promised equitable and adequate distribution of the ITNs across the nooks and crannies of the state.

The permanent secretary, of the Osun State Ministry of Health, Dr Isiaka Adekunle in his keynote address said Osun State has been at the forefront of the anti-malaria campaign, hoping that the ongoing campaign would further reduce malaria prevalence in the society.

Mr. Chukwu Okworonko of the federal ministry noted that the number of malaria cases in Osun since 2014 was about 1.4 million, adding that 4.2 million estimated cases were averted in the state between 2009 and 2022 and specifically said Osun would provide 15 percent of the total global fund support amounting to N261m annually to continue enjoying the global fund grants.
