The Executive Governor of Osun state, Senator Ademola Adeleke has urged Stakeholders of the People’s Democratic Party,Osun state Chapter to embrace Democracy and also to eschew discrimination.
Adeleke made the call during the party’s stakeholders meeting on Tuesday at the government house in Osogbo, the state capitol.
The meeting which had in attendance, the leader of the party in the state, His Excellency, Asiwaju Ademola Adeleke, deliberated on the need for a free primaries in line with the rules of the party, the electoral act and the constitution.
The Critical Stakeholders of the ruling party gathered to also deliberate on activities lined up for a successful primary election towards the coming local government elections in the state.
The leader of the party, His Excellency, Asiwaju Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke urged stakeholders of the party to eschew any form of discrimination in the selection processes, with a view to affirming confidence of aspirants and the members in the PDP as a true democratic party
The meeting directed stakeholders of the party to resolve modalities for the candidates election processes as applicable and peculiar to each of the 332 electoral wards as well as the 30 local governments and the Area Office.
Aspirants for both the chairmanship and the councilorship positions are to approach the state party secretariat for the expression of interest forms, beginning from Wednesday, 7th of August till Sunday 11th of August 2024.
17th and 19th of August have been fixed for the Councillorship/3 adhoc delegates congress and the Chairmanship primaries respectively. Aspirants screening committees were set up and affirmed at the meeting, in line with the party guidelines
The Congress Appeal Committee was also affirmed at the meeting as set up by the party. The Appeal Committee is headed by the State Chairman, Hon Sunday Bisi.
Stakeholders took turns to commend the state Governor, His Excellency, Asiwaju Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke for his uncompromising steadfastness in moving the state forward, which according to them, has further softened ground for the party to win elections in the state.
The meeting resolved further as follows:
● The Party leadership is prepared for a level playing field for all aspirants;
● The meeting appreciates local government chapters that have resolved outstanding issues;
● The meeting tasks local governments with disputes over the forthcoming elections to apply dispute resolution mechanisms;
● The meeting urged local government leadership caucus to urgently resolve any local disputes that may arise over the local governments elections
●The meeting directed members to eschew social media war to sustain the integrity of the party;
● The meeting vowed to wield big stick to sustain Party discipline and submission to the internal disputes mechanism structure of the party
The meeting was also attended by the state Deputy Governor, Prince Kola Adewusi, Members of the National Assembly,
Former Deputy Speaker House Representatives, Alhaji Lasun Yusuff, Speaker of the state house of assembly, Rt Hon Adewale Egbedun, Members of the state House of Assembly, The SSG, Alhaji Teslim Igbalaye, The Chief of Staff, Alhaji Kazeem Akinleye, Hon Commissioners, Special Advisers, PDP BOT member and former national secretary, Professor Wale Oladipo, former SSG, Alhaji Fatai Akinbade, PDP National Vice Chairman, Southwest, Barrister Kamarudeen Ajisafe, Senator Olu Alabi, Alhaji Tajudeen Oladipo, Mama Atinuke Oyawoye Members of the PDP state working committee, local government party chairmen, state officers amongst several other critical Stakeholders.
