Suspected Boko Haram terrorists on several motorcycles have killed 13 Zabarmari farmers in Mafa local C=council of Borno state.
Security forces and the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), in the Northeast, are still searching for several other missing rice farmers.
According to a military source, in Maiduguri, the farmers were killed on Sunday, while working on their rice fields in Koshebe, Karkut and Bulabulin villages.
A counter-insurgency expert, in the Lake Chad region, Zagazola Makama, disclosed, yesterday (Monday), in Maiduguri that a heavily armed terrorists on motorcycles attacked farmers while threshing their rice fields in the three affected communities,
On how they were killed, he said: “The terrorists grouped themselves into three, before attacking the farmers on the rice fields of Koshebe, Karkut and Bulabulin.”
Makama explained that instead of the terrorists use their guns in killing the farmers, they resorted to cutlasses and knives in stabbing them to deaths.
Continuing; he said: “So far, 13 bodies were recovered on Sunday night, while the search for the missing farmers is still ongoing in the local council.
In November 2020, 43 farmers were also killed by the terrorists in the Zabarmari rice-farming community in the state.
