Osun state chapter of Nigeria Union of Pensioners has denounced the purported plan by unknown face to stage protest against the government saying, the faceless people are not members of the union, neither the union know anything nor plan any face off with the state government. This was contained in a release jointly issued and signed by Prince Ganiyu Salawu and Comrade Dele Aina, the state Chairman and Secretary of the union respectively.
It would be recalled that, some members of the union are calling for state protest to press home some of their demands from the government which was reported by some media outfits. According to the statement, the pensioners in the state are highly grateful to Governor Ademola Adeleke for all the welfare packages the retirees have been receiving from his administration, noting that, they have not had it so good like what the present administration is doing for it’s members since the inception of democracy in the state. Osun NUP denounced it outrightly, the faceless people calling for protest, saying, their motive is politically motivated by the opposition. They noted that, none of its members, either Contributory Pension Scheme, 2011/2012 forum or pensioners under the old pension scheme have such plan of staging any protest The release also urged the union members to take caution not to allow the politician to use them to cause crisis in the state. Osun NUP also used the medium to appeal to the state government to expedite actions on some of their plights before them.
