Osun State Government and the management of Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC) has finally resolved the lingering issues surrounding the Nelson Mandela Freedom Park facility located at Old Garage, in the heart of the Osun State Capital.
The facility heavily invested with the State resources in 2016 by former Governor Rauf Aregbesola, was designed to beautify Osogbo, promote economic and social activities among the populace.
But the immediate past administration of Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola could not carry on, as it failed in the arrangement for proper running, thereby making the relationship between the State government and Nigeria Railway Corporation unhealthy.
But recently, the Honourable Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Rev. Bunmi Jenyo held several meetings with the NRC management at their Lagos Head office, where all misgivings, issues and misunderstandings were thrashed out and resolved.
Consequently, both parties involved have proposed a Memorandum of Understanding in the best way by which the Nelson Mandela Freedom Park can be handled in the interest of fairness, equity and economic benefits of the people of Osun State.
According to the Commissioner, “it is indeed a new dawn, Gov Ademola Adeleke has done it again. He has, in his wisdom, resolved all the issues affecting the smooth running of the Nelson Mandela Freedom Park, between Osun State Government and the management of Nigeria Railway Corporation”.
“This is no doubt, in the interest of all and the benefit of the citizens of Osun State. Apart from the endless benefits attached to it, this singular move will solidify the working relationship between the NRC and Osun State Government”, the Commissioner said.
